My Role: Evaluation Lead

The Iftar Night Market is a community event at Mabelle Arts, gathering the neighbourhood for an evening of food, art, and shared celebration during Ramadan. As Evaluation Lead — part of my role as a Newcomer Artist Ambassador — I was responsible for tracking and documenting the event's impact and participation: who came, how people engaged, and what the evening meant to the community.

The event also served as the public exhibition venue for Shedding Light — the lanterns made by newcomer language learners at Skills for Change were displayed here, where the community saw those words lit up in public for the first time.

Why Evaluation Matters

Community events are often measured by attendance alone. Evaluation work goes further — documenting how people participate, what draws them in, and what they take away. That record helps organizations like Mabelle Arts understand their impact and make the case for the next event.
